Happy Holidays

1990
Watercolor, ink, 7 color pencil
6" x 4"

The idea for this piece goes back to Thanksgiving 1988, when my mom took me shopping at the mall in White Plains, New York. Holy cow was it a zoo! And I'm one who doesn't care for shopping in the first place.

When I got back to school I created an illustration that summed up my feelings about the experience. However, not completely satisfied with it, I did a second version a little more than a year later (which is the one seen here). This one's a little tighter and makes better use of color than the first, and it's easier to tell what's going on (the trampled guy got kind of lost in the first version).
