I don't like this piece as much as Laugher, but I include it here for sake of comparison. When the Giants won the 1991 Super Bowl I was quite excited; it was their second championship in four years (the other coming in 1987) so I decided to do a piece in celebration. A literally “giant” Lawrence Taylor (my favorite player) towers above players from the best teams of the day: The Bears, 49ers and Bills had all lost to the Giants in the post-season; the ’skins and Eagles were division foes; the Dolphins were a long-time New York Jets nemesis (and a team I've always disliked); and I threw-in a Viking since I was now living in Minnesota.
Some trivia: #13 on the Dolphins was Dan Marino. The 49ers’ #16 was Joe Montana. The Bears’ #50 was Mike Singletary. The Bills’ #34 was Thurman Thomas. Don’t know who was #9 on the Eagles (Randall Cunningham was #12); the number may not have had any significance. The Redskins #45 wasn’t meant to be anyone in particular; turns out to be cornerback Sidney Johnson (who?); and The Vikings player’s number is obscured, he too was not meant to be anyone specific.
