The Arcade was a forerunner to the modern shopping mall—an enclosed structure with three levels of shops and restaurants. Living in Minnesota I know that Southdale in Edina claims to be the country's oldest shopping mall (built in 1956), but in fact the Arcade was built in 1828. I think the Arcade wins.
