Gouache
5 ¼" x 3 ½ " each
These are gouache sketches done for a small Minnesota company that imported comic books made board games. They asked me to submit some sketches for the cover of a game they were developing, but ultimately they went a different direction. Oh well. Still, I had fun painting them.
Although they're not painted with oil nor acrylic, the technique and appearance is similar. Gouache in fact is commonly used to make preliminary sketches for oil paintings because it's water-based and dries fast, but is also opqaque and can be built-up like oil.
