Actually, the piece was originally intended to be a comparative study of the historical garb of Normans and Saxons (circa 1066).

For the “dress dummies” I used myself and my wife as the Normans, and my friends Steve and Amy as the Saxons. But as you can see, I got no further than some general lines indicating the folds in Amy’s dress. Poor Steve is completely out of costume.
