I knew Jessie and her family through my church in New York. Her sisters and brother played Little League baseball, which I would occasional watch. One day after one of her siblings’ games had ended, Jessie took up a bat and began to play with her sister. I took some photos, which served as the basis for these drawings.

Later I would use these sketches as the basis for Big Dreams.
