Park Avenue United Methodist Church in Minneapolis started a men’s softball team in 2002. The manager desired a logo for the uniform. I suggested that the logo should have a “classic” baseball look to it, reminiscent of the great logos used by the Yankees, S.F. Giants, L.A. Dodgers and Cardinals.

But I also wanted to hint at the team’s church affiliation. Thus the design is meant to remind one of the traditional Chi-Rho Christian symbol. There is also a cross, created by the intersection of the P’s stem and A’s middle spar
