Exercise: Photo Repair
Use the adjustment menu and related tools to repair the visible damage on the provided photograph.
Procedure
- Get a copy of the damaged file called Repair Exercise1.psd from me, or dowload a jpeg version here. Open it in Photoshop.
- Save the file as mayName_photoRepair.psd. As you work, save often.
- Note that there are two images when you open the file: the one on the left is the damaged one that must be repaired; the one on the right is how it should look when you're finished (save for the difference in size—leave the size of the damaged one the same; don't scale it down).
- Use the various adjustments tools & menus to repair the photo. Below is a diagram of what needs to be repaired:

Hints:
- Adjust the color balance first using either Image > Adjustments > Color Balance and Image > Adjustments > Levels.
- Select the water stains with with the lasso set to about 5px feather. Then adjust using Image > Adjustments > Levels.
- Use the spot healing brush to get rid of dust spots.
- Use the healing brush to repair the "scuff" mark.
- Use the clone stamp to repair the tears and remove the writing.
- Turn in your exercise. Put your file on a jump drive (if you don't have one you can borrow mine), and give me a copy.
