Create a Photoshop collage that creatively interprets a song or piece of music. The goal here is to make a piece that captures the mood, theme, and spirit of the song, not necessarily a literal reiteration of the lyrics. In fact, it may be best to choose an instrumental, or a song with vague or abstract lyrics.
The piece must be a collage—an assemblage of disparate images that tell your story. Don't create a singular, seamless image. The piece should also make creative use of textures, effects (damaged images, darkroom effects,etc), blending modes, and filters. You must use multiple images on multiple layers.
Think abstractly: use colors, textures, unusual images that relate to your subject. Don’t limit yourself to photos; you can use original art, text, handwritten passages, scanned objects, fabric, etc. Be creative; an element you choose might have no direct link to your song, but when included in the piece may take on new symbolic meaning. The goal here is to try to create a unified, cohesive piece of art that somehow becomes more than a sum of its parts.
