Final Study Guide
The final will be a written test. No notes, books, or open compputers allowed. Students should be prepared to answer multiple-choice questions on the following topics:
Type
- Students should be able to recognize the type tool and its function.
- Students should also know the following:
- How to choose a typeface (font), color and size for the text.
- How to use the character & paragraph palettes.
- How to apply effects such as 'Drop Shadow' and 'Outer Glow' to type.
- Why type needs to be rasterized and how it is done.
- How to use the Warp effects to warp type.
Vector Tools
- Students should be able to recognize the following tools and know their functions:
- Pen Tool
- Path Selection & Direct Section Tools
- Convert Point Tool
- Students should also know the following:
- What a vector is, and the advantages/disadvantages vs. raster objects/images.
- How to make a path and save it.
- How to convert a path into a selection.
- How to convert a path to a mask.
Web Stuff & Image Ready
- Students should be able to recognize the following tools and know their functions:
- Slice tool
- Slice selection tool
- Preview button
- Students should also know the following:
- The differences between a jpeg, gif & png file.
- What "slicing" is, and how to do it.
- How to use the Web Content palette to create rollovers.
- How to Save Optimized.
Rotoscoping
- Students should know what rotoscoping is.
- Students should know what a filmstrip file (.flm) is and how it is used to rotoscope.
General Knowledge
- Students should also be prepared to answer questions dealing with the tools introduced in the first half of the class (selection, paint brush, etc.).
- Students should also be prepared to answer questions related to selections, layers, the paint tools and adjustment tools.
