This section contains examples of work done by my students using traditional media such as pencil, ink, scratchboard, color pencil, gouache, watercolor, and acrylic. Between 1990 and about 1998, the majority of the classes I taught were in traditional media. During that period I had hundreds of students, and they created numerous wonderful works of art. Unfortunately, I have only a handful of those pieces in my collection; when I started teaching back in 1990, it did not often occur to me to photograph my students' projects. And even when I thought of it, the amount of work involved (getting tungsten slide film, a slide stand with lights, finding time, etc.) was usually sufficient to prevent me from carrying out such a task. The few traditional media examples I have from this early period are largely pieces that were never claimed by the students who created them.
